The Detroit Tigers and the Toronto Blue Jays face off on Thursday in Detroit as they close out their series.

The Detroit Tigers lead the American League Central but the lead is shrinking as they have lost four games in a row. On Wednesday Ian Kinsler and Miguel Cabrera each hit home runs and Alex Avila had two hits as the Tigers scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Rick Porcello allowed six hits and three runs while striking out three to take the loss and fall to 8-3 for the season. For Thursday’s game the Tigers start Justin Verlander who is coming off of a win after getting roughed up in his prior two starts. For the season Verlander has allowed 83 hits and 35 earned runs while striking out 57 over 79 innings for a 6-4 record and a 3.99 ERA.

Detroit Tigers vs. Toronto Blue Jays MLB Pick, Odds, Prediction 6/5/14

The Toronto Blue Jays continued their hot play as they crushed the Tigers on Wednesday. Melky Cabrera had three hits including a home run, Jose Bautista had three hits, and Adam Lind had two hits as the Blue Jays scored eight runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher R.A. Dickey allowed seven hits and two runs while striking out four over 5.0 innings to get the win and raise his record to 6-4 for the season. For Thursday’s game Toronto starts J.A. Happ who lost last time out after winning his prior three decisions. For the season Happ has allowed 39 hits and 17 earned runs while striking out 33 over 37.1 innings for a 4- record and a 4.10 ERA.

Detroit is 4-12 in their last 16 games, 1-5 as a home favorite, and 7-3 in Verlander’s last 10 starts. Toronto is 9-0 as an underdog, 6-0 against a team with a winning record, and 5-2 in Happ’s last seven starts. Toronto is 4-9 in the last 13 meetings of these two.

This is simply way too big of a number to be laying against the Jays and I am on Toronto here.
