The St Louis Cardinals head to the Rogers Centre for an interleague bout with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Cardinals were playing their best baseball a few weeks ago and appeared to have the Brewers in the crosshairs but things have gone south since. A 3-2 defeat at Kansas City on Thursday has the Redbirds staring at defeats in eight of eleven with both the bats and arms not looking strong. The offense shouldered the blame Thursday with Michael Wacha falling to 4-4 with three runs given up on seven hiits through six frames. The Cards never got their offense going with eight hits with Matt Carpenter and Peter Bourjos driving in runs. St Louis sends right hander Lance Lynn to the mound to face the big bats of the Blue Jays. Lynn has had a strong season thus far with a 6-3 record and 3.48 ERA in 12 starts.

The red hot Blue Jays are enjoying their longest hot streak in recent memory and their reward is the top spot in the tough American League East. The Jays kept the wins coming in with a 7-3 decision over Detroit on Thursday for their 9th win in eleven contests. JA Happ improved to 5-2 with all three runs plated on seven hits over 6.1 innings. The offense made that effort hold up with Melky Cabrera, Juan Francisco and Brett Lawrie each clubbing long balls. Overall the jays scored three runs in both the 4th and 6th innings. The Blue Jays give Friday's start to Marcus Stroman who makes his second career start. Stroman hopes to come close to his six inning stint versus Kansas City where he allowed a run in a 12-2 victory.
Who knows what Stroman is going to because he was awful in the pen and great in his one start. My thinking is the Toronto bats are ready, willing and able to win if he does struggle...
