The Houston Astros and Minnesota Twins will take the field Saturday for game two of a three-game series.
Don’t look now, but the Astros have won 10 of their last 13 games and are only eight games back from a .500 record. The Astros pitching staff has made wonderful strides during this stretch, allowing three or less runs in seven of their last 12 games. That’s impressive for an Astros squad that has an ERA of 4.18. Offensively, the Astros have scored five or more runs in three of their last four games and Jose Altuve has 12 hits in his last 10 games. Getting the nod is Scott Feldman, who is 3-3 with a 4.25 ERA and has 25 strikeouts in 53 innings. Feldman is 2-2 with a 5.44 ERA in 13 career games against the Twins.

The Twins have lost six of their last 10 games and are getting much of the same from their pitching rotation. The Twins have the 28th worst ERA in baseball at 4.46 and have allowed four or more run in five straight games. The Twins are 9-27 when allowing more than three runs this season. Offensively, Brian Dozier has 10 hits in as many games. Kyle Gibson will take the hill, and he’s 4-5 with a 4.35 ERA and has 30 strikeouts in 62 innings. This will be Gibson’s second career start against the Astros.
The Astros are 2-5 in Feldman's last 7 starts and 32-75 in their last 107 during game 2 of a series. The Twins are 4-1 in Gibson's last 5 starts during game 2 of a series and 1-7 in Gibson's last 8 starts with 4 days of rest. The Astros are 3-7 in the last 10 meetings in Minnesota.
It's not often the Astros are rolling and playing against an up-and-down team in the Twins, it only makes sense to take Houston and the plus money. Ride the hot hand until it stops paying.
