The Houston Astros head to Chase Field to tangle with the Arizona Diamondbacks in interleague action.
Houston might not be as hot as they were a few weeks ago but they still have some bite as winners in three of four following a 14-5 rout of Minnesota at Target Field. The Astros have turned in some solid performances the past several weeks and the offense was as good as we've seen from this team with 14 hits and eight BB. Dexter Fowler, George Springer, Jonathan Singleton and Chris Carter slammed home runs while Jonathan Villar knocked in three. That overcame a poor effort from Collin McHugh who gave up three runs in 4.1 frames. Jarred Cosart will be on the hill Monday to face the Diamondbacks for the first time in his career. Cosart has been throwing the ball well with three runs or less allowed in nine of his last ten outings.

The Diamondbacks are in a desperate drive to make up ground after a painfully slow start to 2014 has them looking up at the rest of the division. The Snakes have made strides to digging themselves out of their hole but they have the misfortune of sharing the division with San Francisco which hasn't helped their situation. Zona won for the 5th time in six contests with a 6-5 decision versus visiting Atlanta. Chase Anderson went to 5-0 with a pair of runs over seven frames before three relievers each gave up single runs. Paul Goldschmidt and David Peralta slammed two run bombs while Chris Owings singled in two more. Josh Collmenter toes the rubber in the series opener versus the visiting Astros on Monday. Collmenter has gone 4-2 in 2014 with a 3.63 ERA over ten starts.
Both teams have proven to be dangerous and so have both starters but in looking for an edge I feel Collmenter has been a more consistent pitcher so a slight nod to the Diamondbacks but I won't pay the juice...
