The Cincinnati Reds and the Los Angeles Dodgers face off on Tuesday in Cincinnati for game two of their series.
The Cincinnati Reds are still battling injuries and they lost once again on Monday. Ryan Ludwick had two hits including a home run, Brandon Phillips had two hits, and Brayan Pena had a hit as the Reds scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Tony Cingrani allowed seven hits and six runs while striking out five over 4.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-7 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Reds start Mike Leake who has lost two of his last three starts. For the season Leake has allowed 75 hits and 30 earned runs while striking out 56 over 82 innings for a 3-5 record and a 3.29 ERA.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to gain ground on the Giants and get back into the NL West race and they helped their cause on Monday getting the win in Cincinnati. Scott Van Slyke hit two home runs, Justin Turner had two hits, and Yasiel Puig and Hanley Ramirez had hits as the Dodgers scored six runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Dan Haren allowed five hits and two runs while striking out two over 5.1 innings to get the win to go to 6-4 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Dodgers start Josh Beckett who has lost both of his starts since his no hitter. For the season Beckett has allowed 51 hits and 19 earned runs while striking out 63 over 66.2 innings for a 3-3 record and a 2.56 ERA.
Cincinnati is 5-2 as a favorite, 3-10 in game two of a series, and 0-4 in Leake’s last four home starts. Los Angeles is 4-11 as a road underdog, 1-4 in game two of a series, and 5-14 in Beckett’s last 19 starts. Los Angeles is 2-4 in their last six games in Cincinnati.
The Reds have had their share of troubles but I look for them to bounce back and get the win here.
