The Kansas City Royals and the Cleveland Indians face off on Wednesday afternoon in Kansas City as they continue their AL Central series.
The Kansas City Royals are performing below expectations this season but they got the best of the Indians on Tuesday. Eric Hosmer, Alex Gordon, and Mike Moustakas each hit home runs as the Royals scored nine runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Jason Vargas allowed six hits and three runs while striking out five over 7.2 innings to get the win to go to 6-2 for the season and Aaron Crow earned his first save. For Sunday’s game the Royals start Yordano Ventura who won last time out to end a personal four game losing streak. For the season Ventura has allowed 60 hits and 24 earned runs while striking out 60 over 63.1 innings for a 3-5 record and a 3.41 ERA.

The Cleveland Indians have been one of the hottest teams in baseball of late but htye were cooled off on Tuesday losing to the Royals. Carlos Santana and Lonnie Chisenhall each had two hits and Michael Brantley had a hit as the Indians scored five runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Corey Kluber allowed six hits and three earned runs while striking out five over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 6-4 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Indians start Trevor Bauer who has two no decisions and a loss in his last two starts. For the season Bauer has allowed 26 hits and 13 earned runs while striking out 35 over 28.2 innings for a 1-2 record and a 4.08 ERA.
Kansas City is 6-2 in their last eight games, 2-7 against the AL Central, and 1-5 in Ventura’s last six starts. Cleveland is 9-2 in their last 11 games, 5-14 as a road underdog, and 1-5 on the road against a team with a losing record. Cleveland is 1-5 in their last six games in Kansas City.
I don’t like the price here on Ventura but he is still the play.
