The Line: San Francisco Giants -134 / Washington Nationals +124 --- Over/Under: 6.5 See the Latest Odds

The Washington Nationals and San Francisco Giants will play game three of a four-game series on Wednesday.

The Nationals have won seven of their last eight games and remain tied for first with the Atlanta Braves in the NL East. The reason for the Nationals turnaround has been their offense that has scored four or more runs in six of their last eight games. When you combine that with a pitching staff that has a 2.98 ERA, the Nationals are going to win a lot of games. Ian Desmond has 13 RBI in his last 10 games. Tanner Roark gets the nod, and he’s 4-4 with a 2.91 ERA and has 61 strikeouts in 77.1 innings. This will be the second time Roark has faced the Giants in his career.

San Francisco Giants vs. Washington Nationals MLB Pick, Odds, Prediction - 6/11/14

The Giants have lost the first two games of this series, but have six of their last nine games overall. The Giants just haven’t been able to hit the ball in this series, scoring just three combined runs. That’s not good for a Giants squad that is 10-17 when scoring three or less runs. Brandon Crawford has 11 hits in his last 10 games and Buster Posey has hit safely in eight straight games. Matt Cain takes the hill, and he’s 1-3 with a 3.52 ERA and has 42 strikeouts in 53.2 innings. Cain is 5-4 with a 3.12 ERA in 13 career starts against the Nationals.

The Nationals are 2-6 in Roark's last 8 starts as an underdog and 2-5 in Roark's last 7 starts. The Giants are 4-1 in Cain's last 5 starts and 2-7 in Cain's last 9 home starts. The Giants are 5-0 in Cain's last 5 home starts vs. Nationals.

The Giants can only be in a slump for so long, especailly at home. Cain has pitched well lately and has had career success against the Nats. I'll take San Fran at home.
