The St Louis Cardinals shoot for back to back wins versus the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field.
The Cardinals are showing signs of another hot streak on the horizon after a 1-0 victory in the series opener versus Tampa Bay for win number three in a row. The pitching has been very sharp with each win coming via the shutout. Ace Adam Wainwright improved to 9-3 Tuesday with a seven hit shutout over seven frames. The offense didn't do much and fortunately didn't have to with Matt Holliday's 6th inning solo jack getting the job done. Michael Wacha looks to continue his hot pitching when he faces Tampa Bay on Wednesday. Wacha is 1-1 in his last three times out with a 2.84 ERA in 19 innings.

It's really hard to believe the extent of the Rays struggle but they have the worse record in the game. The talent on this team says this shouldn't happen but the Rays struggles at the plate are a major reason for their woes. The struggles at the plate continued Tuesday which squandered a strong perfomance from Jake Odorizzi whogave up only three hits through 7.1 frames but one those hits left the yard. The bats had a few chances on eight hits and a trio of bases on balls but the one big hit never came. Left hander Erik Bedard looks to string a few wins together to get Tampa Bay pointed in the right direction. Bedard is coming in off of a 4-0 decision over Seattle where he tossed six scoreless innings.
Neither team has been imposing at the plate so the question is really backing the pitcher you think can keep the opposing bats under control...
