The Cincinnati Reds hope for a strong start to their series with the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park.
Cincinnati has been ordinary thus far and as a result they are stuck in third in the National League Central. The Reds have shown some positive signs as of late with wins in four of six following a 4-1 victory over the visiting Dodgers on Thursday. Alfredo Simon continued his impressive run with the lone score plated on seven hits over eight frames to improve to 9-3. The Reds didn't pound the ball but made the most of seven hits with Todd Frazier launching a two run homer while Skip Schumaker recorded a pair of hits and scored twice. Homer Bailey takes the hill Friday riding a four game winning streak in to Milwaukee. Bailey is 7-3 on the year with a 4.60 ERA covering 78.1 innings.

Milwaukee continues to ride their hot start which has them sitting atop the National League Central. The Brewers haven't run away with the division as they appeared to be early on but they are playing well enough to keep their rivals at arm's length for the time being. Milwaukee maintained their grip on first with a 13 inning, 5-1 victory over the Mets on Thursday night. Starter Kyle Lohse was at his best with an unearned run scored in eight innings with four relievers keeping New York off the scoreboard. The Brew Crew received a two run homer from Jonathan Lucroy and a solo shot Aramis Ramirez. Matt Garza is scheduled to start the opener versus visiting Cincinnati on Friday. Garza is 2-0 with a 2.84 ERA over his last three outings.
Not a lot of advantages to exploit on either side but I like the way Bailey is winning games so I'm simply going with the better odds...
