The Colorado Rockies and San Francisco Giants battle in game two of their series at AT&T Park.
Colorado was the biggest challenger to San Francisco in the National League West until a two week slide where the bats and arms dropped the Rockies to third. The Rockies appeared to be headed for another loss before scoring five times in the 9th for a 7-4 victory on Friday night. Jorge De La Rosa gave up two runs in three innings with Thomas Kahnle and Chris Martin allowing a run each. Justin Morneau and Ryan Wheeler paced the Rockies at the plate with two RBI's each. Colorado looks to rookie Christian Bergman for his second career start versus San Francisco. Bergman dropped a 3-1 decision in his first outing with two runs scored over six innings.

San Francisco has looked like the best team in the game this year although they didn't look great in losing three of four to visiting Washington. It isn't a big deal unless the Giants continue to lose which happened once again thanks to pathetic relief pitching from Sergio Romo who somehow gave up five runs in the 9th while recording just one out. Tim Lincecum couldn't have been thrilled because he gave up two runs in six innings and received a ND. The Giants totaled nine hits and three base on balls with Michael Morse leading the way by driving in two. Ryan Vogelsong gets the call in Saturday's match up with Colorado. Vogelsong has generally thrown the ball well but not in a 9-2 loss to visiting Washington where he was charged with six runs over six frames.
I love the make up of San Francisco but the bottom line is they aren't playing well right now and needed Friday's game. Vogelsong has the pitching edge over an unknown in Bergman but I don't know if I could pay the price right now...
