The San Francisco Giants and the Colorado Rockies face off on Sunday at AT&T Park as they close out their NL West series.
The San Francisco Giants still have a large lead in the NL West but they didn’t help themselves on Saturday toking another bad loss to the Rockies. Hunter Pence nad Buster Posey each had two hits including home runs and Angel Pagan and Gregor Blanco each had two hits as the Giants scored four runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out two over 5.0 innings to not get a decision as Sergio Romo blew his fourth save this season and took the loss to fall to 3-3. For Sunday’s game the Giants start Madison Bumgarner who is coming off of a loss that ended a six decision winning streak. For the season Bumgarner has allowed 84 hits and 26 earned runs while striking out 95 over 87.2 innings for an 8-4 record and a 2.67 ERA.

For the second time in two nights the Colorado Rockies rallied late to get the win in San Francisco on Saturday. Brandon Barnes hit a home run and Charlie Blackmon and Michael McKenry each had three hits as the Rockies scored five runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Christian Bergman allowed eight hits and three runs while striking out three over 6.0 innings to not get a decision as Rex Brothers got the win to go to 3-4 for the season and LaTroy Hawkins earned his 13th save. For Sunday’s game the Rockies start Juan Nicasio who has lost his last three starts. For the season Nicasio has allowed 85 hits and 45 earned runs while striking out 44 over 71 innings for a 5-5 record and a 5.70 ERA.
San Francisco is 5-2 against a team with a losing record, 1-5 in their last six games, and 6-2 in Bumgarner’s last six starts. Colorado is 5-11 in their last 16 games, 1-5 in game three of a series, and 1-4 in Nicasio’s last five starts as an underdog. Colorado is 17-35 in their last 52 games in San Francisco.
The Giants are a big favorite here and they should be as they get revenge and the win.
