The Los Angeles Angels battle the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field in game two of their series.
With Oakland leading the American League West the Angels simply can't afford to fall too far behind and that means avoiding losing streaks. That hasn't been happening with Monday's 4-3 defeat saddling the team with losses in five of six. Starter Jered Weaver struggled early and it was costly with all four runs plated on five hits including two homers over six frames. LAA mustered nine hits and five walks with Chris Iannetta knocking in two while John McDonald connected on a sac fly. The Angels hand the ball to Matt Shoemaker in game two of of the series at Progressive Field. Shoemaker has made five starts in 2014 with a 3-1 record and 4.19 ERA.

For much of the season Show your Cleveland Indians pride, click here!" target="_blank">Cleveland has been unable to get going but after winning on Monday the Tribe has won three in a row and climbed one game above the .500 mark. The better news was the Indians picked up a game in the standings with the Tigers falling to Kansas City. Trevor Bauer looked shaky early before settling down with all three runs plated on eight hits and four BB through 6.2 innings to improve to 2-3. The offense totaled six hits and walked three times with Asdrubal Cabrera smacking a two run bomb while Carlos Santana went solo. The Indians send right hander Josh Tomlin to the bump to face the Angels for the first time this season. In seven outings Tomlin has gone 4-3 with 3.33 ERA.
There isn't really much of an edge either way in my view with Shoemaker having limited experience and Tomlin not pitching a lot thus far. I'm going with the home team at small chalk...
