The Toronto Blue Jays visit the Big Apple to face the New York Yankees in AL East action Tuesday.
The Blue Jays have slowed from their torid hot streak that carried them to the top of the AL East so the task now is to hold off the challengers and hopefully get hot once again. Toronto took two of three at Baltimore following a 5-2 victory on Sunday with both the pitching and hitting taking care of business. JA Happ improved to 6-3 with a run scored over six innings on seven hits while striking out six. The Jays racked up 12 hits and walked twice with Dioner Navarro going 3-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI's. Toronto sends rookie Marcus Stroman to the hill for his 4th start and first ever versus the Yankees. Stroman has done well as a starter where he has gone 2-1 with 2.50 ERA.

TheYankees made some changes to their lineup in the offseason and those changes appear to have been for the better thus far. I don't know what the future holds but the Bronx Bombers are hanging tough with a decent mix of pitching and hitting. That wasn't the case Sunday as the New Yorkers were down early and never recovered in a 10-5 defeat at Oakland. Vidal Nuno simply didn't have his best stuff with the A's scoring eight times on eight hits including a pair of homers over three innings. The offense scored late on Brett Gardner's two run bomb and Carlo Beltran's solo shot but the hole was to big. The Yankees turn to Mashiro Tanaka to open the series on the mound against Toronto. In his first season Tanaka has been the best pitcher in the game with a 10-1 record and 2.02 ERA in 13 starts.
Not surprising that there is a sizeable price tag on Tanaka even though it's first place Toronto he is facing. I am still going to give him a look here but the ML is too steep...
