The Arizona Diamondbacks host the Milwaukee Brewers at Chase Field on Wednesday night.
Milwaukee has gone through a few stretches where I thought it was the beginning of the end for their first place run in the National League Central. The Brewers have not blinked however and have won seven of ten after Tuesday's 7-5 win at Arizona. Starter Kyle Lohse picked up the win with four runs plated (three earned) on four hits and a trio of BB over six frames. A five run 7th carried the day with Jonathan Lucroy clubbing a pair of bombs and driving in five while Aramis Ramirez went solo. The Brewers are scheduled to send Matt Garza to the mound to face the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Garza has been throwing well the past three times out with a 2-0 mark and 1.86 ERA.

The good news for the Diamondbacks is they have climbed out of the National League West basement but the bad news is they haven't been playing well. Arizona has struggled to a pair of wins in their last nine contests where neither the arms or bats have been strong enough to carry the load. Michael Bolsinger threw well enough to win with three runs scored through 6.1 frames before Evan Marshall let things get away with three runs plated in the 7th without recording an out. Roger Kieschnick cracked his first long ball of the season with Martin Prado driving in a pair but the bats couldn't overcome the meltdown of the pen. Wade Miley is on the hill Wednesday charged with containing the big offense of visiting Milwaukee. Miley looks to bounce back from a 5-4 loss at Houston where he gave up four runs in in five frames.
I am not the biggest Matt Garza fan around but I do give him a slight edge. However, I'm backing Milwaukee because they are looking pretty good the last few weeks...
