The Boston Red Sox and the Minnesota Twins face off on Wednesday at Fenway Park as they continue their series.

The Boston Red Sox didn’t get a ton of offense on Tuesday but they got enough to get the win against the Twins. Jon Lester allowed four hits and a run while striking out six over 6.1 innings to get the win and go to 8-7 for the season and Edward Mujica Earned his second save. For Wednesday’s game the Red Sox start John Lackey who has won three of his last four starts. For the season Lackey has allowed 97 hits and 34 earned runs while striking out 81 over 94.1 innings for an 8-4 record and a 3.24 ERA.

Boston Red Sox vs. Minnesota Twins Pick, Odds, Prediction 6/18/14

The Minnesota Twins never got the bats going on Tuesday as they fell to the Red Sox in Boston. Daniel Santana had two hits and Joe Mauer and Kurt Suzuki had hits as the Twins scored one run on four hits. Starting pitcher Phil Hughes allowed eight hits and two runs while striking out six over 8.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 7-3 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Twins start Kyle Gibson who has won his last two starts. For the season Gibson has allowed 71 hits and 30 earned runs while striking out 38 over 76 innings for a 6-5 record and a 3.55 ERA.

Boston is 9-2 in their last 11 home games, 6-2 as a favorite, and 4-1 in Lackey’s last five starts as a favorite. Minnesota is 1-5 against a right-handed starter, 1-6 against a team with a losing home record, and 2-5 in Gibson’s last seven starts as an underdog. Minnesota is 2-6 in the last eight meetings of these two.

I don’t love this game so I will take a chance on the nice price and take the Twins.
