The Oakland A’s and the Texas Rangers face off on Wednesday in Oakland as the continue their AL West series.
The Oakland A’s haven’t been playing their best baseball of late but they put it all together on Tuesday beating the Rangers. Derek Norris had two hits including a home run, Stephen Vogt had three hits, and John Jaso and Alberto Jose Callespo had two hits each as the Athletics scored 10 run on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Tommy Milone allowed five hits and three runs while striking out three over 5.2 innings to get the win to go to 5-3 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the A’s start Sonny Gray who has lost his last two starts. For the season Gray has allowed 7 hits and 30 earned runs while striking out 79 over 92 innings for a 6-3 record and a 2.93 ERA.

The Texas Rangers looked like they were heating up to make a run at the A’s atop the AL West but they were cooled off on Tuesday losing in Oakland. Rougned Odor had two hits including a home run and Elvis Andrus and Adrian Beltre had two hits each as the Rangers scored six runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Yu Darvish allowed eight hits and seven runs while striking out eight over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 7-3 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Rangers start Nick Tepesch who has two losses and a no decision in his last three starts. For the season Tepesch has allowed 31 hits and 14 earned runs while striking out 23 over 32 innings for a 2-2 record and a 3.94 ERA.
Oakland is 5-1 in game three of a series, 7-2 in their last nine home games, and -1 in Gray’s last eight starts against the AL West. Texas is 5-2 in game three of a series, 2-5 in their last seven games as an underdog, and 5-1 in Tepesch’s last six starts against the AL West. Texas is 1-5 in their last six games in Oakland.
The A’s are a big favorite here but the number looks to be way too big given the play of these two teams recently so I will take a shot on the Rangers at the big price.
