The Atlanta Braves look to take over the NL East with another win over the Washington Nationals.
If Atlanta is going to get back to winning on a consistent basis this weekend would be a good time to start against their biggest challenger in the NL East. The Braves have looked ordinary the last few weeks but came up big in a 6-4, 13 inning win at Washington on Friday. Mike Minor gave up two runs over seven frames with Craig Kimbrel blowing the save with two runs scored in the 9th. Freddie Freeman homered while Jason Heyward and Andrelton Simmons drove in a pair of runs each. The Braves send Julio Teheran to the bump for game two of their series with Washington. Teheran has been the team's best with 6-4 record and 2.31 ERA while Atlanta is 10-5 in his starts.

Washington hasn't been the most consistent team in the game but they have done enough to hang around the top of the National League East which had belonged to the Braves most of 2014. The Nats had taken over first but their stay was short with Friday's defeat to their division rivals. Stephen Strasburg allowed four runs through six innings with four relievers tossing shutout baseball until Jerry Blevins allowed a pair of runs in the 13 to take the loss. The offense received a solo bomb from Ian Desmond with Anthony Rendon tying the score with a two run jack in the 9th but the Nats struck out 17 times. Doug Fister takes the ball Saturday lookig to even their series with visiting Atlanta. Fister suffered a rare off day last time out with four runs plated over six frames with a pair of homers doing him in.
For whatever the reason Atlanta seems to play well against Washington and needs to once again with Teheran on the bump. Fister has been sharp but it's tough to pass on the plus odds on the visitors...
