The Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Francisco Giants face off on Sunday at Chase Field as they close out their NL West series.
The Arizona Diamondbacks had their share of chances on Saturday but they were unable to convert the bulk of them as they fell to the Giants. Aaron Hill had two hits and Gerrardo Parra and Miguel Montero each had hits as the Diamondbacks scored four runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy allowed 10 hits and five runs while striking out two over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 1-10 for the season. For Sunday’s game the D-backs start Michael Bolsinger who is making his sixth Major League start. For the season Bolsinger has allowed 40 hits and 19 earned runs while striking out 28 over 30 innings for a 1-2 record and a 5.70 ERA>

The San Francisco Giants entered Saturday’s game with a seven game losing streak and left it with a one game winning streak. Hunter Pence had two hits including a home run, Pablo Sandoval had three hits, and Buster Posey had two hits as the Giants scored six runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong allowed five hits and four runs while striking out three over 5.0 innings to get the win and Sergio Romo earned the save. For Sunday’s game the Giants start Madison Bumgarner who as a no decision and a loss in his last two starts, For the season Bumgarner has allowed 90 hits and 30 earned runs while striking out 104 over 94.2 innings for an 8-4 record and a 2.85 ERA.
Arizona is 3-8 in their last 11 games, 5-14 as a home underdog, and 1-4 in Bolsinger’s last five starts. San Francisco is 2-5 as a road favorite, 1-6 in their last seven games, and 1-5 in Bumgarner’s last six starts against the NL West. San Francisco is 15-5 in their last 20 games in Arizona.
