The Miami Marlins continue to hang around in the NL East race and they held their ground on Monday getting the win over the Phillies. Derek Dietrich and Casey McGehee each had two hits and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit as the Marlins scored four runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Natan Eovaldi allowed six hits and struck out two over 6.1 scoreless innings to get the win and go to 5-3 for the season. For Tuesday’s game Miami starts Andrew Heaney who lost his first Major League start. In his only appearance Heaney allowed four hits and a run while striking gout three over 6.0 innings to take a 1-0 loss to the Mets.
Philadelphia is 7-2 in their last nine games as an underdog, 4-10 against the NL East, and 1-4 against a left-handed starter. Miami is 2-4 in their last six games, 3-8 against a team with a losing record, and 0-7 as a road favorite. Miami is 6-12 I the last 18 meetings of these two.
Heaney was impressive in his first outing but I am not sure that merits him being a road favorite here and my play is on the Phillies.
