The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Cleveland Indians face off on Wednesday in Arizona for game two of their interleague series.
The Arizona Diamondbacks got their series against the Indians off to a winning start as they won in 14 innings on Tuesday. David Peralta hit a home run, Gerardo Parra had five hits, and Ender Inciarte had four hits as the Diamondbacks scored nine run on 19 hits. Starting pitcher Wade Miley allowed eight hits and five runs, four earned, while striking out three over 4.0 innings to not factor in the decision as Josh Collmenter got the win to go to 6-4 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Diamondbacks start Chase Anderson who has lost his last two starts. For the season Anderson has allowed 35 hits and 14 earned runs while striking out 30 over 39.2 innings for a 5-2 record and a 3.18 ERA.

The Cleveland Indians had plenty of chances to get the win on Tuesday but in the end they came up short. Carlos Santana had four hits including a home run and Jason Kipnis and Yan Gomes had three hits each as the Indians scored eight runs on 14 hits. Starting pitcher Justin Masterson allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out six over 4.0 innings to not get a decision as John Axford blew the save and mark Lowe took the loss. For Wednesday’s game the Indians start Corey Kluber who has lost his last two decisions. For the season Kluber has allowed 104 hits and 38 earned runs while striking out 114 over 103.2 innings for a 6-5 record and a 3.30 ERA.
Arizona is 5-9 in their last 14 games, 2-5 I their last seven games as an underdog, and 5-2 in Anderson’s last seven starts. Cleveland is 11-3 in their last 14 interleague games as a favorite, 2-6 in their last eight games following a loss, and 4-1 in Kluber’s last five road starts. Cleveland has won five of their last eight games against Arizona.
