The Tampa Bay Rays clash with the Baltimore Orioles in game number one of their doubleheader.
Tampa is the owner of the worse record in the game and likely have to make a move soon if they have any hope to make a run at the AL East. The troubled offense has shown signs of breaking out of the season long slump but they have still played .500 ball over the past few weeks which won't be good enough long term. The Rays come in off of a 5-1 win over visiting Pittsburgh with David Price allowing a solo homer over 8.1 frames. The offense received a pair of RBI's from Kevin Kiermaier with Ben Zobrist and Evan Longoria scoring twice. Tampa Bay sends Alex Colome to the hill in game one of their twin bill. Colome has appeared pitched four innings in relief with two runs allowed on three hits and a trio of walks.

Baltimore and the Yankees have been fighting for second and the Orioles are the present owners having won six of eight. In this stretch the bats and arms have each been contributing which is the key for this team with neither unit strong enough to win on their lonesome. Baltimore rode some late inning heroics to upend the White Sox 5-4 in 12 innings. The Orioles trailed 4-0 in the 8th when Nelson Cruz connected on a grand slam with David Lough scoring on a wild pitch in the 12th. Starter Ubaldo Jimenez was charged with all four runs through six innings on eight hits with six relievers putting up zeros. Kevin Gausman takes the ball to open the first game of a doubleheader versus visiting Tampa Bay. Gausman has gone 3-0 in his last three with 0.95 ERA and 1.00 WHIP.
Baltimore has been generally getting their pitching and hitting on the same page and need to keep it going versus a Rays squad that is looking a bit more dangerous. I'm looking at Gausman who has been throwing well because I don't know what Colome is going to do...
