The Cleveland Indians are very much in contention to return to the post season for the second year in a row but they have plenty of work to do to make that a reality. The Indians are 15-25 on the road this season, 5-5 in their last 10 games, and they are coming off of a win on Wednesday at Arizona. As a team the Indians are hitting .352 with Lonnie Chisenhall hitting .352, Michael Brantley hitting .325, and Yan Gomes hitting .272. The Indians pitching staff has a team ERA of 4.16 with the starters at 4.65 and the bullpen at 3.34. For game one of their series in Seattle the Indians start Trevor Bauer who hasn’t allowed less than three runs in any of his last four starts. For the season Bauer has allowed 49 hits and 23 earned runs while striking out 47 over 47.0 innings for a 2-3 record and 4.40 ERA.
Seattle is 5-1 in their last six games, 4-1 in their last five games against a right-handed starter, and 5-1 in Young’s last six home starts. Cleveland is 5-1 against the AL West, 5-2 on the road against a right-handed starter, and 1-4 in Bauer’s last five road starts. Cleveland is 5-2 in their last seven meetings with Seattle.
I see some decent pitching here and I am going with the under for my free pick. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
