The Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies match up in the second game of their DH at Citizen's Bank Park.
Atlanta is always challenging for the top spot in the National League East and this season is no different. The Braves and Washington are the two top teams in the division once again but there really is no clear cut leader with neither team separating themselves. The problem I have seen withh the Bravos is their offense can go silent for days at a time and when they have what appears to be an edge on the mound they are outpitched. These issues seem to be more prevalent in 2014 as the team is a little more then a .500 squad right now. David Hale is scheduled to be on the mound in game two of their doubleheader at Philadelphia. Hale has generally thrown the ball well in four starts where he has goe 2-2 with a 3.14 ERA.

Philadelphia believes they have another year left to challenge for the National League title and hopefully beyond. That was the thinking heading in to 2014 but things haven't gone their way thus far. In previous year's injuries played a part in their struggles but the team has stayed relatively healthy and are still below .500 in a weak divison which says a lot. Not enough consistency on the mound or at the plate but the Phillies are still within striking distance. If the Phils can squeeze a strong second half from the current roster they could win the division but we haven't seen that type of long term run from this squad in several seasons so seeingis believing. The Phillies send Sean O'Sullivan to the bump for his first start since 2013. The Phils could use another quality arm in the rotation so O'Sullivan is auditioning for a possible spot.
Not much to go on from O'Sullivan who has shown flashes in prior years. I honestly don't have a great deal of faith in either team in this spot so take this for what it's worth and may be look elsewhere...
