The surging Atlanta Braves look to stay on a roll when they face the New York Mets on Tuesday night.
The NL East lead is not all that far out of reach for the Mets but they are struggling at the wrong time with Atlanta playing well. New York appeared on the way to knocking off their rivals before a late meltdown saddled them with a 5-4 defeat. Zack Wheeler gave upp just a single run over 6.1 frames before Jeurys Familia charged with four 8th inning runs but only one was earned. New York managed eight hits with Curtis Granderson going deep while Chris Young rapped an RBI single. The Mets turn to Daisuke Matsuzaka to the hill to squareoff with the surging Braves Tuesday. Matsuzaka brings in a 3-2 record and 3.23 ERA over six outings.

If you are a fan of the Braves or just follow the game you know they are ordinary when cold and tough to handle when playing well with little in between. Atlanta is on one of those runs where they can do no wrong as they won their 7th in eight contests with a late rally to upend New York on Monday. Starter Alex Wood allowed all three runs through six frames with three relievers keeping the Mets off the scoreboard. Atlanta mustered eight hits and seven free passes with Freddie Freeman driving in a pair of runs and walking three times. Left hander Mike Minor hopes to right the ship when he opposes the visiting Mets to keep the Braves atop the NL East. Minor is only 2-5 with a 4.50 ERA in eleven outings while logging a 1.48 WHIP.
I don't like betting a game Matsuzaka pitches because he can get wild and kill a wager on walks. He has a great shot versus a struggling Minor but I'm going with the hot team...
