The Houston Astros and the Seattle Mariners face off on Tuesday for game two of their series.
The Houston Astros have had some good moments this season but Monday’s game wasn’t one of them as they were pounded by the Mariners. Marwin Gonzalez and George Springer each had home runs and Alex Presley had two hits as the Astros scored four runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Collin McHugh allowed five hits and five runs while striking out eight over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 4-7 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Astros start jarred Cosart who has won his last four starts. For the season Cosart has allowed 87 hits and 38 earned runs while striking out 62 over 95 innings for a 8-5 record and a 3.60 ERA.

The Seattle Mariners are looking to position themselves for a run at the post season and they helped their cause on Monday beating the Astros. Robinson Cano, Mike Zunino, Michael Saunders, and Brad Miller each hit home runs as they scored 10 runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Taijuan Walker allowed five hits and three runs while striking out six over 6.0 innings to get the win to go to 1-0 for the season and Tom Wilhelmsen earned his first save. For Tuesday’s game the Mariners start Hisashi Iwakuma who has lost four of his last six decisions. For the season Iwakuma has allowed 73 hits and 29 earned runs while striking out 55 over 75 innings for a 5-4 record and a 3.48 ERA.
Houston is 15-37 in game two of a series, 24-50 as a home underdog, and 4-0 in Cosart’s last four starts. Seattle in 9-2 in their last 11 games, 6-2 against a team with a losing record, and 1-4 in Iwakuma’s last five starts as a favorite. Seattle is 10-2 in their last 12 games in Houston.
The total in this one is set at 7.5 and with these two on the mound the play is the under. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
