The struggling New York Mets and the struggling Texas Rangers collide in game two of their series.
The Rangers have really been struggling with defeats in nine of eleven with neither the arms or bats able to get on the same page. The pitching let them down in a 6-5 loss at Citi Field on Friday night. Yu Darvish suffered through a rare poor outing with four runs given up over five innings. The offense pounded out 12 hits and walked five times with Shin-Soo Choo and Adrian Beltre slamming solo homers. Colby Lewis will be on the hill Saturday looking to even the series with the Mets. Lewis has gone 5-5 with a 5.71 ERA over 14 outings.

The past several weeks have not been kind to the Mets who are only 3-8 in this stretch. The offense hasn't been scoring and the pitching hasn't been able to control the scoreboard. The offense continued to struggle Friday but the offense didn't. After Jon Niese allowed a run in 1/3 of an inning he left the game after getting hit in the back with a line drive with fhree of the next four relievers allowing runs. The New Yorkers mustered seven hits and six bases on balls with Lucas Duda going deep and driving in two while Travis d'Amaud nocking two more. The Mets send Bartolo Colon to the bump who to take on visiting Texas on Saturday. Colon has gone 8-6 with a 3.88 ERA overall and his 2-1 with a 2.86 ERA in his last three.
Not much to like between two teams that haven't had much positives lately. That leaves me looking at the pitching which favors Colon and the Mets...
