The St Louis Cardinals shoot for consecutive victories over the visiting Miami Marlins on Saturday.
The Marlins have dropped from the list of challengers in the National League East although they are not far away in the scope of things. The offens and pitching have been all over the map lately which has led to defeats in seven of eleven after Friday's 3-2 loss at St Louis. Starter Nathan Eovaldi allowed all three runs over six innings of work but still fell to 5-4 on the season. The Fish totaled ten hits and walked four times with Christian Yelich and Giancarlo Stanton driving in 9th inning runs. Rookie left hander Andrew Heaney makes his 4th start of 2014 when he faces the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Heaney has dropped his first three outings and has logged a 5.29 ERA.

The Cardinals are trying to go on a prolonged winning streak to put the pressure the National League Central leading Brewers. St Louis has been a bit on the streaky side with a few wins followed by a few victories. Friday's victory belonged to Lance Lynn who tossed a five hit shutout over 6.2 frames to improve to 9-6. Trevor Rosenthal gave up both runs in the 9th before nailing down the save with a game ending double play. Yadier Molina and Oscar Tavaras recorded RBI's in a pivitol three run 6th. Shelby Miller is scheduled to be on the bump in game two of the series with the visiting Marlins. Miller has forged a 7-7 record with a 4.10 ERA over 17 outings.
I don't like the way Miller has been throwing the ball and Heaney doesn't have a track record to lean on. Right now I'm siding with the over with the right to change later if I find an angle...
