The Cincinnati Reds and the Milwaukee Brewers meet on Sunday in Cincinnati as they play game three of their series.
The Cincinnati Reds had their way with the NL Central leading brewers on Friday but on Saturday they had no answers taking the loss. Brandon Phillips and Zack Cozart each had a hit but Joey Votto struck out three times as the Reds failed to score and had just two hits. Starting pitcher Homer Bailey allowed seven hits and a run while striking out eight over 8.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 8-5 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Reds start mat Latos who took hi first loss of the season in his last start. For the season Latos has allowed 17 hits and seven runs while striking out 15 over 25.2 innings for a 1-1 record and a 2.45 ERA.

The Milwaukee Brewers helped extend their lead in NL Central as they made their one run stand up for the win in Cincinnati. Aramis Ramirez had two hits and drove in a run, Jonathan Lucroy had a hit and scored a run, and Scooter Gennett had a hit as the Brewers were nailed at home twice but managed to score one run on seven hits. Starting pitcher Matt Garza pitched a gem allowing two hits and striking ot nine for the complete game shutout and the win to go to 6-5 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Brewers start Yovani Gallardo who was crushed in his last outing taking a loss. For the season Gallardo has allowed 96 hits and 40 earned runs while striking out 80 over 102.2 innings for a 5-5 record and a 3.51 ERA.
Cincinnati is 5-2 in their last seven home games, 9-5 in their last 14 games, and 24-7 in Latos’ last 31 home starts. Milwaukee is 25-9 in game three of a series, 1-4 in their last five games, and 6-2 in Gallardo’s last eight starts as a road underdog. Milwaukee is 2-5 in the last seven meetings of these two.
