The Los Angeles Angels and the Houston Astros face off on Sunday in Anaheim as they close out their AL West series.
The Los Angeles Angels trailed the Astros early on Saturday but they came back to win going away. Albert Pujols, C.J. Cron, and David Freese each hit home runs as the Angels scored 11 runs on 14 hits. Starting pitcher Hector Santiago allowed six hits and five runs while striking out seven over 5.0 innings to not get a decision as Michael Roth got the win to go to 1-0 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Angels start Garrett Richards who has won his last five decisions. For the season Richards has allowed 77 hits and 34 earned runs while striking out 108 over 109 innings for a 9-2 record and a 2.81 ERA.

The Houston Astros are regressing and we saw it once again on Saturday as they were stomped by the Angels. Chris Carter hit a home run, Jason Castro had three hits, and Matt Dominguez had two hits as the Angels scored five runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Scot Feldman allowed six hits and two runs while striking out five over 6.0 innings o not get a decision as Anthony Bass blew the save and took the loss. For Sunday’s game the Astros start Collin McHugh who has lost his last four starts. For the season McHugh has allowed 54 hits and 28 earned runs while striking out 89 over 78.1 innings for a 4-7 record and a 3.22 ERA.
Los Angeles is 6-1 in their last seven games, 9-3 following a win, and 4-0 in Richards’ last four starts. Houston is 19-48 following a loss, 0-5 against a right-handed starter, and 0-4 in McHugh’s last four starts as an underdog. Houston is 1-5 in the last six meetings of these two.
The Angels are a big favorite and they should be as they win easy here.
