As a team the Giants are hitting .245 with Hunter Pence hitting .301, Buster Posey hitting .286, and Michael Morse hitting .272. The Giants pitching staff has an ERA of 3.41 with the starters at 3.61 and the bullpen at 2.97. For game one against the A’s the Giants start Ryan Vogelsong who has lost his last two starts and three of his last four decisions. For the season Vogelsong has allowed 97 hits and 42 earned runs while striking out 86 over 98 innings for a 5-5 record and a 3.86 ERA.
Oakland is 4-1 against the NL West, 13-5 in their last 18 games, and 5-2 in Chavez’s last seven starts as a home favorite. Not loving the price here because I expect scoring but I like the A’s bullpen better and in this one that is going to play a big factor.
