The New York Yankees hope to end their series at Progressive Field on a positive note versus the Cleveland Indians.
New York has fallen off the pace in the American League East but are showing signs of a rebound where the offense has begun hitting and scoring. That wasn't the case Tuesday in a 5-3 defeat at Cleveland where Masahiro Tanaka has suddenly looked normal. Tanaka fell to 12-4 with all five runs scored on ten hits including two homers over 6.2 frames. The offense didn't help with a mere four hits with Brett Gardner and Mark Texiera driving in runs. The Yankees send newly acquired Brandon McCarthy to the bump for his first start in pinstripes. McCarthy has thrown the ball well the last two times out with three runs scored in 12.2 innings.

The Indians are around the .500 mark over the last few weeks but that won't get them back in the American League Central race as they are still trying to reach .500 as the end of the first half of the season approaches. The Tribe took a step in the right direction with solid efforts at the plate and on the mound with Trevor Bauer allowing all three runs (two earned) through seven frames to improve to 3-4. Nick Swisher clubbed a two run bomb while Michael Brantley went deep and drove in three while totaling three hits. Josh Tomlin takes the ball for his first start versus the Yankees since 2012. Tomlin hopes to rebound from a 7-1 loss to visiting Kansas City where he gave up five runs on ten hits over 5.2 frames.
I don't have a clue why the Yankees traded for McCarthy who has had a horrible season. I will take it a step further and bacl him as he is throwing well but I'll look further in to this one...
