The battle to get out of the American League West basement concludes Wednesday with Houston at Texas.
Houston ended a seven game slide with a win at Texas in the series opener but they will need far morethen that to escape the AL West basement which neans more hitting and better pitching. Houston received plenty of both in Tuesday's 8-3 victory at Texas with Brad Peacock giving up a pair of runs over 5.2 innings pitched. The Stros totaled 12 hits with George Springer leaving the yard and driving in two while scoring twice with Chris Carter slamming apair of solo jacks. A struggling Dallas Keuchel looks to right the ship when he squares off with the Rangers in the series finale'. Over his last three Keuchel has been charged with 13 runs on 27 hits in 18 innings.

The Rangers are in the same boat as their American League West rivals as the past several weeks have not beem good with defeats in eight of ten heading in to Tuesday's match up where the offense and pitching have both struggled. Both had issues in Tuesday's defeat at the hands of visiting Houston with starter Phillip Irwin charged with three runs in four frames before the game was put out of reach when Aaron Poreda gave up three more in the 8th. Leonys Martin swung the big bat with his 5th long ball and two RBI's. Yu Darvish toes the rubber against Houston on Wednesday looking for some consistency. Overall Darvish has been having an outstanding year with an 8-4 record with a 2.63 ERA over 16 outings where the Rangers have gone 11-6.
The way the Rangers have been playing Darvish might not be the answer. I'm backing him because he is their best chance but his team really isn't great...
