The Oakland Athletics hope to stay hot against the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park on Thursday.
Oakland is on another roll which seems to be a common occurence in 2014 with plenty of hitting and pitching leading the way. Both have been on the same page during a six game winning streak heading in to their Wednesday's bout at San Francisco where the streak ended by a 5-2 count. Jason Hammel took the loss in his first start with the A's with three runs scored (two earned) in five frames with Eric O'Flaherty allowing two more in an inning of work. The generally dependable Oakland attack mustered just five hits and a pair of BB with Stephen Vogt going yard while Jed Lowrie singled in another. Left hander Scott Kazmir will be on the mound to face San Francisco for the first time in his career. Kazmir is 10-3 with a 2.53 ERA over 18 outings where the Athletics have gone 14-4.

The red hot San Francisco squad that built a huge lead in the National League West is now in a virtual tie for the top spot in the division with the hated Dodgers. The Giants had dropped seven of ten headining in to their finale' with Oakland as both the arms and bats have struggled. Starter Matt Cain hasn't been as strong as expected but he was Wednesday with both runs plated on five hits through six innings to get the win. The Giants totaled ten hits with Hunter Pence leaving the yard and knocking in two. Veteran Tim Hudson takes the ball Thursday looking to slow down the red hot Athletics in the series finale'. Hudson has come back from injury well with a 7-5 record and a 2.53 ERA with the Giants going 11-5 in his outings.
This is a great match up on the mound with Kazmir having a career type season which is why I lean to Oakland as dogs...
