As a team the Yankees are hitting .252 with Ichiro Suzuki hitting .302, Brett Gardener hitting .285, and Jacoby Ellsbury hitting .284. The Yankees pitching staff has an ERA of 3.99 with the starters at 4.05 and the bullpen at 3.88. For Friday’s game the Yankees start Hiroki Kuroda who has won two of his last three starts. For the season Kuroda has allowed 115 hits and 51 earned runs while striking out 77 over 109.1 innings for a 6-6 record and a 4.20 ERA.
Baltimore is 9-2 in their last 11 games, 11-5 as a favorite, and 17-6 in Gonzalez’s last 23 home starts. New York is 8-2 in game one of a series, 0-5 against the AL East, and 4-11 in Kuroda’s last 15 road starts. New York is 1-4 in the last five meetings of these two.
