The New York Yankees are hanging around in the AL East race and they gained a full game on the division leading Orioles by beating them at Camden Yards on Saturday. Brian McCann had three hits, Derek Jeter had two hits, and Jacoby Ellsbury and Mark Teixeira each had hits as the Yankees scored three runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Shane Greene allowed four hits and struck out nine over 7.1 scoreless innings to get the win to go to 2-0 for the season and David Robertson earned his 23rd save. For Sunday’s game the Yankees start Chase Whitley who worked out of the bullpen in his last appearance earning the win in Cleveland. For the season Whitely has allowed 64 hits and 28 earned runs while striking out 36 over 51 innings for a 4-2 record and a 4.94 ERA.
Baltimore is 9-4 in their last 13 games, 8-1 in game three of a series, and 4-1 in Gausman’s last five starts. New York is 8-3 against a right-handed starter, 2-6 against the AL East, and 7-3 in Whitley’s last 10 starts. New York is 5-1 in their last six meetings in Baltimore.
The line for this one was out late but my pick was in the premium area and it was Baltimore.
