The New York Mets and the Miami Marlins face off on Sunday as they play their final game before the All Star Break.
The New York Mets rallied form behind on Saturday to beat the Marlins. Chris Young hit a home run, Travis d’Arnaud had two hits, and Curtis Granderson had a hit as the Mets scored five runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed four hits and four runs while striking out 10 over 6.0 innings to not get the decision as Victor Black got the win to go to 2-2 for the season and Jenry Mejia earned his 10th save. For Sunday’s game the Mets start Jacob deGrom who has won two of his last three decisions. For the season DeGrom has allowed 65 hits and 25 earned runs while striking out 64 over 66.2 innings for a 2-5 record and a 3.38 ERA.

The Miami Marlins were unable to hold onto the lead on Saturday as they lost to the Mets in New York. Christian Yellich hit a home run and Casey McGehee and Garrett Jones each had hits as the Marlins scored four runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Tom Koehler allowed two hits and three runs while striking out four over 6.1 innings to not get a decision as Bryan Morris blew the save and Mike Dunn took the loss to fall to 7-5 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Marlins start Brad Hand who has pitched well since moving back to the starting rotation. For the season Hand has allowed 42 hits and 20 earned runs while striking out 27 over 35.1 innings for a 0-1 record and a 5.09 ERA.
New York is 7-1 in their last eight games, 6-1 against the NL East, and 3-8 in deGrom’s last 11 starts. Miami is 1-5 in their last six games, 0-5 against a right-handed starter, and 2-10 in Hand’s last 12 starts. Miami is 8-21 in their last 29 games in New York.
The Mets are a pretty big favorite here but they are rolling heading nto the break making them the logical play here.
