The Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies face off on Saturday at Turner Field for game two of their series.

The Atlanta Braves jumped put to an early lead on Friday and added to it as they knocked off the Phillies. Jason Heyward had two hits including a home run, Chris Johnson had two hits, and Justin Upton had a hit as the Braves scored six runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Ervin Santana allowed six hits and four runs, three earned, while striking out one over 6.0 innings to get the win and go to 8-6 for the season and Craig Kimbrel earned his 30th save. For Saturday’s game the Braves start Alex Wood who had two no decisions and a loss in his last three starts. For the season Wood has allowed 80 hits and 32 earned runs while striking out 82 over 85.2 innings for a 6-7 record and a 3.36 ERA.

The Philadelphia Phillies took the loss on Friday and they could be sellers as the trade deadline gets closer. On Saturday Grady Sizemore had two hits and Chase Utley and Ryan Howard had hits s the Phillies scored four runs on six hits. Starting pitcher A.J. Burnett allowed 10 hits and six runs while striking out five over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 6-9 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Phillies start Cole Hamels who has solid numbers but they don’t show up in the win-loss columns. For the season Hamels has allowed 92 hits and 35 earned runs while striking out 106 over 107.1 innings for a 3-5 record and a 2.93 ERA.

Atlanta is 6-1 in their last seven home games, 13-5 in their last 18 games, and 13-5 against a team with a losing record. Philadelphia is 4-1 in their last five road games, 2-9 against the NL East, and 2-6 in Hamels last eight starts against a team with a winning record.
