The Miami Marlins and the San Francisco Giants face off on Saturday in Miami in game two of the series.
The Miami Marlins simply had no answers on Friday as they were blown out at home by the Giants. Giancarlo Stanton hit his 22nd home run, Casey McGehee had two hits, and Christian Yellich had a hit as the Marlins scored one run on seven hits. Starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi allowed nine hits and eight runs while striking out five over 4.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 5-5 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Marlins start Henderson Alvarez who lost last time out to end a string of four winning decisions. For the season Alvarez has allowed 129 hits and 35 earned runs while striking out 73 over 120 innings for a 6-4 record and a 2.62 ERA.

The San Francisco Giants struggled over the past month but on Friday they looked like the team they were earlier this season as the pounded the Marlins in Miami. Pablo Sandoval and Brian Crawford each hit home runs and Buster Posey had three hits as the Giants scored nine runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner allowed four hits and a run while striking out seven over 6.0 innings to get the win to go to 11-7 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Giants start Tim Hudson who has lost his last four decisions. For the season Hudson has allowed 112 hits and 38 earned runs while striking out 78 over 119 innings for a 7-6 record and a 2.87 ERA.
Miami is 2-7 in their last nine home games, 0-5 in their last five games, and 13-3 in Alvarez’s last 16 starts. San Francisco is 5-1 against a team with a losing record, 1-5 in games two of a series, and 1-4 in Hudson’s last five starts. San Francisco is 10-4 in their last 14 games in Miami.
