The San Francisco Giants go for a crucial road sweep of the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon.
After a long, slow slide San Francisco is back atop the National League West as they entered Saturday's bout at Miami as winners in six of ten where the pitching and hitting have been on the same page and that trend continued in a 5-3 decision at Miami. Veteran Tim Hudson came up huge with a single run score over 7.1 frames to get the win while Sergio Romo gave up two more in the 9th. The Giants did all their scoring by the 4th with Hunter Pence driving in two with Pablo Sandoval scoring twice. Tim Lincecum looks to continue his hot pitching when he takes the hill at Miami on Sunday. Lincecum has won four in a row with only one run allowedin this span that covers 30.1 innings.

Miami has really fallen on hard times since coming within an eyelash of first in the National League East. The losses have been mounting after Saturday's defeat left the Fish staring at losses in six straight and eight of eleven where the scoring and pitching have struggled. Henderson Alvarez suffered through a rare poor outing at home with a pair of runs scored in 2.2 innings where he threw 59 pitches. Sam Dyson was charged three runs in 3.1 frames that put the game out of reach with the bats unable to get much going despite eleven hits. Giancarlo Stanton led the scoring with his 23rd long ball. The Marlins give Sunday's start versus visiting San Francisco to Brad Hand. Hand only has five 2014 starts under his belt where he has gone 0-2 with a 5.26 ERA while Miami is 1-4 in his outings.
