The Line: Oakland Athletics -210 / Houston Astros +195 --- Over/Under: 7.5 See the Latest Odds
The Oakland Athletics and the Houston Astros face off on Tuesday at O.co Coliseum for game one of their series.
The Oakland A’s have the best record in baseball this season but they have just a slim lead in the AL West over the team with the second beast record, the Angels. The A’s are 32-16 at home, 6-4 in their last 10 games, and they are coming off of a win on Sunday. As a team Oakland is hitting .253 with Coco Crisp hitting .287, Brandon Moss hitting .267, and Yoenis Cespedes hitting .251. The Oakland pitching staff has an ERA of 3.12 with the starters at 3.20 and the bullpen at 2.98. For game one against the Astros the A’s start Scott Kazmir who has won six of his last seven decisions. For the season Kazmir has allowed 8 hits and 31 earned runs while striking out 108 over 117.1 innings for an 11-3 record and a 2.38 ERA.
USA TODAY Sports
The Houston Astros are still in the building process and they have been taking their lumps of late. The Astros are 20-30 on the road, 5-5 in their last 10 games, and they are coming off of a win to avoid being swept at Chicago. As a team the Astros are hitting .239 with Jose Altuve hitting .336, Dexter Fowler hitting .270, and Matt Dominguez hitting .239. The Houston pitching staff has an ERA of 4.40 with the starters at 4.11 and the bullpen at 4.98. For game one at Oakland the Astros start Brett Oberholtzer who has two no decisions and a loss in his last three starts. For the season Oberholtzer has allowed 84 hits and 35 earned runs while striking out 51 over 70 innings for a 2-7 record and a 4.50 ERA.
Oakland is 6-2 following an off day, 39-16 as a home favorite, and 4-1 in Kazmir’s last five starts against the AL West. Houston is 9-20 in their last 29, 18-53 on the road against a left-handed starter, and 1-7 in Oberholtzer’s last eight road starts. Houston is 6-22 in the last 28 metting sof these two.
These are big odds but I see this as a nice one to parlay with some other games as the A’s look like a lock here.
