Busch Stadium and the St Louis Cardinals host interleague foe the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday.

Tampa Bay appeared to be dead in the water a month ago and were entertaining offers for ace David Price. However the Rays have slowly been winning and coming closer and closer to the .500 mark with wins in seven of ten with the once struggling offense coming to life. That trnd continued in a 7-2 win at St Louis Tuesday. Jake Odorizzi allowed both runs over 5.2 innings with Evan Longoria cracking his 12th homer while Yunel Escobar doubled in two more. Tampa Bay turns to Alex Cobb on the hill to contain the dangerous offense of the Cardinals. Cobb has gone 5-6 on the season with a 4.08 ERA in 14 outings.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Tampa Bay Rays MLB Pick-Odds-Prediction - 7/23/14

The Cardinals have turned their season around and are now challenging for the top spot in the National League Central. St Louis has the ability to win with their bats and arms with both doing their part in winning seven of ten. The Cards took one on the chin Tuesday with ace Adam Wainwright suffering through a rare poor outing. Wainwright was charged with six runs (four earned) through 4.2 innings pitched. The bats totaled seven hits with Matt Holliday and Matt Carpenter were the Redbirds offense with solo homers. The Cardinals hand the ball to Lance Lynn who is enjoying a breakout type saeson in 2014. Lynn has gone 11-6 on the year and has been red hot over his last three where has logged a 1.86 ERA.

It's tough going against Tampa Bay who are trying to turn their season around and seem well on their way to doing it. I'm still backing Lynn but be cautious...
