The Milwaukee Brewers and the New York Mets face off on Saturday at Miller park for game two of their series.
The Milwaukee Brewers looked like winner on Friday but they let it slip away and took a loss to the Mets. Carolos Gomes had two hits including a home run and Rickie Weeks and Lyle Overbay each had hits as the Brewers scored two runs on four hits. Starting pitcher Yavani Gallardo allowed four hits and struck out eight over 7.2 scoreless innings to not get a decision as Francisco Rodriguez blew the save and took the loss. For Saturday’s game the Brewers start Wily Peralta who has won seven of his last eight decisions. For the season Peralta has allowed 125 hits and 50 earned runs while striking out 94 over 125.2 innings for an 11-6 record and a 3.58 ERA.

The New York Mets never gave up on Friday and is paid off as they came from behind and got the win. Daniel Murphy had three hits, David Wright had two hits, and Lucas Duda hit a home run as the Mets scored three runs in the ninth inning and had eight hits total getting the win. Starting pitcher Zack Wheeler allowed three hits and two runs while striking out nine over 6.2 innings to not et a decision as Carlos Torres got the win to go to 5-4 for the season and Jenry Mejia earned his 14th save. For Saturday’s game the Mets start Jon Niese who is coming off of a loss in his last start. For the season Niese has allowed 108 hits and 38 earned runs while striking out 80 over 109.1 innings for a 5-5 record and a 3.13 ERA.
Milwaukee is 4-1 in their last five games, 5-1 in their last six home games, and 7-2 in Peralta’s last nine starts. New York is 8-3 in their last 11 games as an underdog, 4-8 in their last 12 road games, and 4-1 in Niese’s last five starts in game three of a series.
The Brewers have bounced back from tough losses all year and I expect them to do the same here.
