The Toronto Blue jays jumped out to an early lead on Friday but they were unable to hold on for long as they lost game on of their series to the Yankees. Jose Bautista had three hits including two home runs and Melky Cabrera and Jose Reyes each had hits as the Blue Jays scored four runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Mark Buehrle allowed nine hits and six runs while striking out two over 3.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 10-7 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Blue Jays start Drew Hutchison who has lost five of his last six starts. For the season Hutchison has allowed 114 hits and 57 earned runs while striking out 102 over 113 innings for a 6-9 record and a 4.54 ERA.
New York is 7-1 in their last eight games, 6-1 in their last seven games as a favorite, and 2-7 against the AL East. Toronto is 5-2 in their last seven games, 1-9 against a left-handed starter, and 1-5 in Hutchison’s last six starts. Toronto is 13-42 in their last 55 games in New York.
The Yankees are just red hot right now and while Capuano wouldn’t normally be a name I jump at, even he can’t stop me from taking New York here.
