The St Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs conclude their series at Wrigley Field on Sunday afternoon.
The Cardinals are in need of a hot streak after a dismal past week that has seen them drop four in a row. The Redbirds pitching was a problem in Friday's 7-6 loss at Wrigley Field where they squandered early and late leads. That wasn't an issue Saturday with the Cards breaking open the game with a four run 7th. Shelby Miller gave up two runs over 5.2 frames while the offense totaled eight hits and three walks. Matt Adams swung the big bat with a pair of hits and four RBI's with a run scored. The Cardinals send ace Adam Wainwright to the hill in the final game of the series with the Cubs. Wainwright has been one of the best in the game with a 12-5 record and 2.02 ERA.

The Cubs have struggled once again are not a factor in the National League Central unless they can be a spoiler and throw a Monkey Wrench in to the plans of the playoff hopefuls on their schedule. They did Friday in the series opener but fell short Saturday with starter Jake Arireta leaving after six frames with the score tied 2-2 befor the bullpen suffered a meltdown. James Russell charged with four runs in 2/3 of an inning to fall to 0-2. The offense managed eight hits with Ryan Sweeney and Nate Schierholtz clubbing solo homers. Chicago gives Sunday's start versus St Louis to rookie Kyle Hendricks who takes the mound for just the third time. Hendricks looks to duplicate his last start where he threw seven scoreless frames of 6-0 win over San Diego.
St Louis facing a rookie hurler with Wainwright on the mound looks like a winner except for the fact that Wainwright hasn't always been geat versus the Cubs. I'll back the visitors who need this win...
