The Washington Nationals played well defensively on Saturday but offensively they had no answers. Wilson Ramos had two hits and Jayson Werth and Denard Span each had hits as the Nationals failed to score on four total hits. Starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez allowed four hits and a run while striking out eight over 7.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 6-6 for the season. For Sunday’s game the nationals start Doug Fister who has won his last four decisions. For the season Fister has allowed 84 hits and 27 earned runs while striking out 49 over 83.1 innings for a 9-2 record and a 2.92 ERA.
Cincinnati is 11-4 in their last 15 home games, 1-7 in their last eight games, and 26-7 in Latos’ last 33 home starts. Washington is 5-2 in their last seven road games, 5-2 in Game three of a series, and 10-2 in Fister’s last 12 starts.
This should be a tight one that goes to the bullpen and I like what the Reds have in relief better so they are my pick here in what is just a lean.
