The Milwaukee Brewers hope to extend their lead in the Central with a win over the Mets Sunday afternoon.
The Mets are trying to stay out of the basement in the National League East which has become a two team race between Washington and Atlanta. The New Yorkers had been riding their pitching in winning three of four heading in to Saturday's bout at Milwaukee where the pitching wasn't enough in a 5-2 defeat. Jon Nise gave up three runs over five frames to to take the loss with Carlos Torres allowing two more in three innings. The New York attack produced eight hits and four walks with Curtis Granderson going solo while Lucas Duda rapped an RBI single. Jacob deGrom shoots for his 5th win of 2014 when he squares off with the Brewers for the second time this year. Overall deGrom has gone 4-5 with a 3.01 ERA over 13 outings.

Milwaukee has looked shaky at times and appeared ripe for the picking but they have regrouped to win five of six after knocking off the visiting Mets on Saturday. The goal now is to keep rolling up the wins and giving themselves breathing room in the National League Central. The Brew Crew received solid efforts on the mound and at the plate Saturday with Wily Peralta allowing both runs through five innings to pick up the win. The Brewers mustered eight hits with Mark Reynolds leaving the yard while four players drove in runs and four scored. Milwaukee turns to Jimmy Nelson for his third start of the 2014 campaign when he takes the hill versus the Mets. Howard is hoping to duplicate his 4-3 decision over Cincinnati where he gave up all three runs in six frames.
I believe deGrom has the advantage on the mound but Milwaukee has the offense and are a first place club so the decent odds on a good team is what I'm looking at...
