The Chicago White Sox and the Minnesota Twins close out their series on Sunday at Target Field.
The Minnesota Twins had few answers on Saturday at the plate as they fell to the White Sox for the second day in a row. Trevor Plouffe had two hits and Josh Willingham and Kurt Suzuki had hits as the Twins failed to score on six hits. Starting pitcher Logan Darnell allowed 11 hits and seven runs while striking out seven over 5.0 innings to take the loss. For Sunday’s game the Twins start Yohan Pino who is coming off of a loss in his last start. Fro the season Pino has allowed 36 hits and 17 earned runs while striking out 24 over 33 innings for a 1-3 record and a 4.64 ERA.

The Chicago White Sox are quietly moving up the Wildcard standings and they gained ground on the leaders on Saturday as they got a win against the Twins. Alexei Ramirez hit a home run, Conor Gillaspie had three hits, and Paul Konerko had two hits as the White Sox scored seven runs on 14 hits. Starting pitcher Chris Sale was in control once again allowing five hits and striking out 12 over 8.0 scoreless innings to get the win and go to 10-1 for the season. For Sunday’s game the White Sox start Scott Carroll who lost his last time out. For the season Carroll has allowed 87 hits and 37 earned runs while striking out 37 over 73.2 innings for a 4-6 record and a 4.52 ERA.
Minnesota is 2-7 in their last nine games, 3-11 in game four of a series, and 0-6 against a team with a losing record. Chicago is 7-3 as an underdog, 1-4 in game four of a series, and 5-12 against the AL Central. Chicago is 3-5 in their last eight meetings against Minnesota.
