The Chicago Cubs and the Colorado Rockies face off on Tuesday at Wrigley Field for game two of their series.
The Chicago Cubs and their fans haven’t had a lot of chances to cheer this season but they go one on Monday as the beat the Rockies. Emilio Bonifacio had two hits and Anthony Rizzo and Starlin Castro each had hits as the Cubs scored four runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Tsuyoshi Wada allowed five hits and a run while striking out six over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 1-1 for the season and Hector Rondon earned his 13th save. For Tuesday’s game the Cubs start Edwin Jackson who has lost his last four decisions. For the season Jackson has allowed 131 hits and 74 earned runs while striking out 104 over 115.2 innings for a 5-11 record and a 5.76 ERA.

The Colorado Rockies have struggled on the road this season and those troubles continued on Monday as they lost to the Cubs. Charlie Blackmon, D,J, LeMahieu, and Nolan Arenado each had hits as the Rockies scored one run on six his. Starting pitcher Yohan Flande allowed four hits and two runs while striking out eight over 6.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 0-3 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Rockies start Jorge De La Rosa who has won his last five decisions. For the season De La Rosa has allowed 103 hits and 54 earned runs while striking out 86 over 116 innings for an 11-6 record and a 4.19 ERA.
Chicago is 2-5 against a left-handed starter, 2-7 against the NL West, and 1-11 in Jackson’s last 12 starts against the NL West. Colorado is 15-38 in their last 53 games, 4-14 against the NL Central, and 42-15 in De La Rosa’s last 57 starts against a team with a losing record. Colorado is 7-20 in their last 27 meetings in Chicago.
