The Cleveland Indians and the Seattle Mariners face off on Wednesday in Cleveland as they meet for game two of their series.
The Cleveland Indians never got enough offense going after falling behind early on Tuesday. Nick Swisher and Chris Dickerson each had two hits and Carlos Santana had a hit as the Indians scored two runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Trevor Bauer allowed eight hits and five runs while striking out three over 4.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 4-6 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Indians start Corey Kluber who has won his last three decisions. For the season Kluber has allowed 135 hits and 46 earned runs while striking out 162 over 149.1 innings for a 10-6 record and a 2.77 ERA.

The Seattle Mariners have struggled in recent weeks but they looked like a contender on Tuesday knocking off the Indians. Mike Zunino had two hits including a home run, Dustin Ackley had three hits, and Kyle Seager had two hits as the Mariners scored five runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma allowed six hits and two runs while striking out six over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 9-5 for the season and Fernando Rodney earned his 29th save. For Wednesday’s game the Mariners start Felix Hernandez who is putting together another monster season. For the year Hernandez has allowed 112 hits and 35 earned runs while striking out 173 over 158.1 innings for an 11-2 record and a 1.99 ERA.
Cleveland is 7-2 in game two of a series, 1-6 in their last seven games, and 11-4 in Kluber’s last 15 starts. Seattle is 10-4 in their last 14 road games, 19-7 as a road favorite, and 6-1 in Hernandez’s last seven road starts. Seattle is 6-2 in the last eight meetings of these two.
We have two strong pitchers here and I expect them to have their way and for this one to stay under the total. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
