The Los Angeles Dodgers look to end their series with the visiting Atlanta Braves with a win.
Everytime the Braves take the field I'm sure there is a little scoreboard watching going on as they battle Washington for supremacy in the National League East. Atlanta made the Dodgers work for everything they got Wednesday but in the end a 3-2 defeat in ten innings wasted strong pitching and a 9th inning rally that tied the game. Alex Wood gave a run over seven frames with Jordan Walden charged with an 8th inning run before David Hale allowed the winner. Andrelton Simmons knocked in a 2nd inning run with Justin Upton going deep in the 9th to send the game to extras. Atlanta sends out ace Julio Teheran for the series finale' with the Dodgers. Teheran has been the team's best option on the hill with a 10-6 record with a 2.71 ERA over 22 outings.

Los Angeles has yet to get hot like we saw them after the All Star break in 2013 but there are signs that is about to change with four straight wins heading in to Wednesday's bout with visiting Atlanta. The LAD extended their hot streak to five games Wednesday thanks to a great effort on the mound from Zack Greinke who allowed a lone run through eight frames while striking out 13. It wasn't all easy with Kenley Jansen serving up a tying homer in the 9th to blow the save. The bats produced 11 hits and four free passes with Matt Kemp going solo while Juan Uribe singled in an 8th inning run before Kemp delivered a walkoff RBI in the 10th. A red hot Clayton Kershaw looks for another Cy Young caliber performance when he faces the Braves Thursday. Kershaw has thrown shutouts in five of his last seven appearances with an overall mark of 12-2 with a 1.76 ERA.
Kershaw will lose again and that's a fact and it could very well happen Thursday. However I don't know if you can go against the best pitcher in the game until he proves to be human...
